William Dunkerley (priest)

William Herbert Cecil Dunkerley , MA was Archdeacon 〔(London Gazette )〕 of Singapore from 1902 until 1905.

Dunkerley was educated at Denstone College and Pembroke College, Cambridge;〔‘DUNKERLEY, Ven. William Herbert Cecil’, Who Was Who, A & C Black, an imprint of Bloomsbury Publishing plc, 1920–2008; online edn, Oxford University Press, Dec 2007 (accessed 27 Sept 2013 )〕 and ordained in 1886. After curacies in Toxteth Park and Sigglesthorne,〔"The Clergy List, Clerical Guide and Ecclesiastical Directory" London, Hamilton & Co 1889〕 he was Chaplain at Malacca and Penang before his time in Singapore. On returning to Europe he worked at Castlemorton, Bush Hill Park, Cannes, Sevenoaks and Leybourne.

He died on 21 August 1922.〔Who was Who (ibid)〕
